China has launched its first rocket from the new commercial space Maidan on Saturday evening, and Ukraine is trying to expand its presence at the business, which at once attracts SpaceX and Elon Musk. The UNN process is based on Bloomberg.
China Central Television reportsthat the rocket successfully launched two experimental satellites into orbit.
The launch vehicle, called Long March-12 Y1, was sent into space by the state-owned Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Co. It was launched from a site on the southern island of Hainan, the first in the country designed for commercial missions.
As Bloomberg notes, China aims to become a space power, but lags behind in commercial rocket launches. In 2023, SpaceX made about 100 launches, which is eight times more than all Chinese private sector startups combined.
The Long March-12 launch vehicle, developed by the Shanghai Academy of space technology, is currently the country's largest single-core launch vehicle in terms of payload capacity.
