A TCC official will stand trial for beating a 60-year-old man and breaking his arm. The SBI has completed the investigation, and the case has been sent to court on the charges of inflicting injuries.

An indictment has been sent to court against the head of a group of one of the departments of the Kovel District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCR), suspected in the case of beating a 60-year-old resident of Volyn, whose arm was allegedly broken during detention, and who was subjected to a stun gun and pepper spray. "SBI officers have completed the pre-trial investigation regarding the head of a group of one of the departments of the Kovel District TCR, who, along with colleagues, used force against a 60-year-old person. The indictment has been sent to court," the statement reads.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred on March 20 in the village of Zabolottia, Kovel district. Three TCR employees approached a 60-year-old local resident who was fishing.

The investigation established that the man was no longer subject to conscription due to his age. Despite this, during the attempted detention, his arm was twisted behind his back, resulting in a displaced bone fracture, the SBI indicated.

Following this, according to law enforcement officers, one of the servicemen used a stun gun and sprayed pepper spray toward the man. As a result, the victim suffered chemical burns to his eyes.

In addition, as noted by the SBI, the TCR employees damaged the tires of the man's car so that he could not drive away. As a result of the beating, the man sustained moderate bodily injuries.

"The group leader will be tried under Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional moderate bodily injury. The sanction of the article provides for up to 3 years of imprisonment. Materials regarding the other servicemen have been separated into a separate proceeding," the SBI emphasizes.
