The initiative involves integrating data from the Brazilian tax service with information from the US Customs and Border Protection to strengthen control over international flows. The authorities plan to combine intelligence capabilities to intercept illegal shipments.
According to Revenue Minister Robinson Barreirinhas, over the past year, more than 1,100 weapons originating from the United States have been seized. In the first quarter of this year alone, over 1.5 tons of drugs were confiscated.

The initiative is being implemented against the backdrop of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's strengthened security policy ahead of the October elections. At the same time, differences remain between Brazil and the United States regarding approaches to combating criminal groups.
