At the border, a banknote with a radiation level 1905 times higher than the norm was found on the woman. Due to the dangerous find, the Ukrainian woman was denied entry to Poland.

During a routine check at the Medyka border crossing, Polish border guards stopped a 54-year-old Ukrainian citizen who was attempting to bring almost 10,000 dollars into Poland. The radiometric frame signal indicated an elevated radiation level. This was reported by RMF24, writes UNN.

During a detailed inspection, it was determined that the source of radiation was one of the 100-dollar banknotes. Measurements showed an excess of the natural background by 1905 times. Analysis revealed the presence of an isotope used in medicine. The banknote was placed in a special container, and the State Atomic Energy Agency of Poland was consulted.

The woman explained that the funds were intended for buying a car, but due to the incident, she was denied entry to Poland and returned to Ukraine along with the seized money.

The Polish Border Guard emphasized that similar cases have occurred before, and all border crossings are equipped with radiometric systems to detect radiation sources.
