Today, law enforcement officers detained a man who attempted to assassinate the commander of the "Khartia" corps, Ihor Obolenskyi. As reported by the SBU, the suspect turned out to be a 69-year-old resident of Kharkiv, who was recruited by Russian special services under a false flag, reports UNN.

As reported by the SBU, the suspect turned out to be a 69-year-old resident of Kharkiv. Russian special services recruited him under a false flag, posing as SBU employees.
It was established that the Russian handler tasked the pensioner with eliminating Ihor Obolenskyi under the pretext that he was supposedly working for the enemy. As proof of their words, the enemy special services sent the suspect an AI-generated image of the "Khartia" commander, where he stands on Red Square in Moscow, wearing a T-shirt with the letter "Z".
According to available data, to eliminate the Ukrainian serviceman, the Russian special services transferred a firearm to the killer through a courier. His identity is currently being established.
The detainee is being prepared a notice of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ Art. 115 (premeditated murder);
▪️ Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives).
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Comprehensive measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Security Service reminded that this is not the first case when Ukrainian citizens are recruited under a false flag, on behalf of Ukrainian law enforcement officers.
The SBU once again called on citizens to be vigilant. We draw attention to the fact that the SBU acts exclusively within the framework of current Ukrainian legislation, does not set any dubious "tasks," and does not send official documents via messengers.
