Apple is working on a second-generation iPhone Air, which it plans to introduce in the spring of 2027. The new product is already undergoing internal testing and is expected to receive a number of significant updates, Bloomberg reports, according to UNN.
Details
According to the agency's sources, the new iPhone Air will feature a second rear camera for ultra-wide-angle photography. The company is also working on increasing the device's battery life, though it is not yet known whether this will be achieved through a larger battery or improved energy efficiency.

The Air model debuted in 2025 and became part of Apple's strategy to expand the iPhone lineup with new form factors. One of the main user complaints regarding the first generation was specifically the single camera, so the company considers improving photographic capabilities a priority.
Bloomberg also reports that Apple is changing its smartphone release schedule. As early as this year, the company plans to introduce only the premium models of the iPhone 18 lineup in the fall, while releasing the standard iPhone 18 and the updated iPhone Air approximately six months later. This is intended to help distribute sales more evenly throughout the year and strengthen competition with Samsung.
