According to Afghan officials, mortars and rockets hit a university and residential buildings. Meanwhile, Pakistan denied involvement in the strikes.
Pakistan's Ministry of Information stated that reports of an attack on the university are a "blatant lie."
First incident since negotiations
This is the first major instance of violence since the start of peace talks between the parties, which took place in early April with Chinese mediation.
Despite agreements not to escalate the conflict, tensions between the countries persist. In recent months, Afghanistan and Pakistan have exchanged strikes, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
Mutual accusations
Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of harboring militants from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan group, while Kabul rejects these accusations.
