Law enforcement officers in Volyn region have blocked a channel for importing counterfeit medicines made in Russia and Belarus into Ukraine. The scheme to import counterfeit drugs through Poland was organized by a 48-year-old resident of Volyn together with four accomplices. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, according to UNN.

It is noted that operatives of the Strategic Investigations Department in Volyn region, together with investigators of the regional police department, eliminated the channel of illegal supply of counterfeit medicines made in Russia and Belarus.
In order to sell counterfeit medicines, the offenders set up online stores, specialized groups in social networks and messengers. The medicines were delivered to customers via postal services, and payment for them was made by cash on delivery or by transferring funds to the defendants' card accounts.
The monthly cash turnover of the criminals from the sale of counterfeit medicines amounted to over UAH 2 million.
On July 24, the police conducted six searches at the places of storage of medicines and the residences of the defendants. During the searches, police seized Russian and Belarusian medicines, over UAH 2 million in various currencies, draft records of the defendants, and consignment notes for the shipment of medicines by post.
The issue of seizing the seized property, conducting an examination and legal qualification of the crime is being decided. The investigation is ongoing under the procedural supervision of the Volyn Region Prosecutor's Office.
