"Seven women serving prison sentences have signed a contract with the Armed Forces. The women expressed a desire to serve under a contract in exchange for parole," the ministry said in a statement on social media.
As indicated, they successfully passed the military medical commission and received the consent of the commanders of military units to serve in specific units of the Defense Forces.
"The law on the mobilization of convicted persons adopted by the Verkhovna Rada provides for the possibility of not only men but also women to join the army. However, previously convicted women did not express a desire to be mobilized. Currently, we have decisions on the first 7 convicts who decided to sign a contract with the Armed Forces

According to the Ministry of Justice, since the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine, which regulates the procedure for exercising the rights of convicts to participate directly in the defense of our country, 6101 convicts have expressed a desire to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 3823 people have already left the penitentiary institutions for training, the Ministry of Justice said.
