On Tuesday, July 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who is on a visit to Ukraine. This was reported by UNN with reference to the President's statement on Telegram.

We had a meaningful meeting with the Vatican's Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. (...) We discussed the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the constant air terror, the difficult humanitarian situation, and the results of our meeting with Pope Francis in June in Italy

- The President of Ukraine said. 

According to him, during the meeting they also paid special attention to the decisions of the first Peace Summit and the role of the Vatican in establishing a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the Cardinal's personal contribution to strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the Vatican. The President also thanked the Secretary of State for his visit to Ukrainian cities. 

This is a strong signal from the Vatican, thank you for your support. And thank you for your participation in the Summit in Switzerland. This is the first step on the road to peace, and all steps are valuable. It is important that you also support it. We all understand that we have to finish this journey as soon as possible to avoid losing human lives
