June 20 marks World Refugee Day, established by the UN, and World Wi-Fi Day. It is also International Surfing Day and Vanilla Milkshake Day.

This weekend combines an extremely important and painful international date for Ukrainians, established by the UN, as well as light summer and sports unofficial holidays, writes UNN.

World Refugee Day

An official UN day, established in 2001. Its main goal is to draw attention to millions of people around the world who have been forced to leave their homes due to war, persecution, violence, or natural disasters. For Ukraine, this day has a particularly deep meaning, as millions of our fellow citizens have become refugees or internally displaced persons as a result of Russian aggression. It is a day of solidarity, support, and compassion.

World Wi-Fi Day

A global initiative organized by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA). It highlights the importance of wireless technologies in the modern world, which connect people and enable remote work and learning. The day also draws attention to the problem of the digital divide and calls for providing internet access in developing countries.

International Surfing Day

This transitional sports holiday is traditionally celebrated on the third Saturday of June. It unites surfers from around the world who not only enjoy conquering the waves but also organize mass beach cleanups and ocean protection campaigns against pollution.

World Productivity Day

A holiday that encourages reflection on how we use our time. It is a great opportunity to learn new time management techniques, get your affairs in order, or, on the contrary, realize that the best productivity is impossible without quality rest (especially on Saturday!).

Vanilla Milkshake Day

A simple and delicious gastronomic holiday, perfect for a hot June weekend.

Saturday of Peter's Fast (Petrivka)

The summer fast continues. Since it is Saturday, the church charter provides for a significant relaxation: the faithful are allowed to eat fish and seafood dishes, hot food with vegetable oil, and a little wine.

Commemoration Day of the Hieromartyr Methodius, Bishop of Patara

According to the new (New Julian) calendar, on this day, Bishop Methodius (who lived in the 3rd–4th centuries) is honored. He was a renowned theologian, writer, and firm defender of Christianity, for which he suffered martyrdom.

Commemoration Day of the Martyrs Inna, Pinna, and Rimma

According to the new style, three early Christian Slavic martyrs (in ancient times these were male names) who suffered for their faith in the 1st century are also remembered.
