On July 28, the global community focuses on global health and environmental issues as part of World Hepatitis Day and Nature Conservation Day. In Ukraine, according to the new church calendar, Orthodox believers honor the memory of the apostles from the seventy, reports UNN.
World Hepatitis Day
An official holiday under the auspices of the WHO. The date was chosen to honor the birthday of Nobel laureate Baruch Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus and created the first vaccine against it. The goal of the day is to raise awareness about the threat of viral hepatitis and the importance of testing and vaccination.
World Nature Conservation Day
A global environmental initiative aimed at drawing public attention to the issues of preserving natural resources, protecting flora and fauna, and conscious consumption for future generations.

Day of Remembrance of the Apostles from the Seventy: Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, and Parmenas
According to the new (New Julian) calendar, on July 28, the first deacons of the Christian church are honored. Among the people, this day was called "Prokhor-Parmeny." The main tradition forbade any commercial undertakings: it was believed that on this day one should not sell, buy, or exchange anything, because the deal would be unsuccessful, and the item would quickly break or get lost.
For those who follow the old (Julian) calendar: July 28 traditionally marks the Day of Remembrance of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr and the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine. Note that after the transition of the OCU and UGCC to the new style, these holidays shifted and are now officially celebrated in Ukraine on July 15.
