Day of Remembrance of the Apostles from the Seventy: Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, and Parmenas

According to the new (New Julian) calendar, on July 28, the first deacons of the Christian church are honored. Among the people, this day was called "Prokhor-Parmeny." The main tradition forbade any commercial undertakings: it was believed that on this day one should not sell, buy, or exchange anything, because the deal would be unsuccessful, and the item would quickly break or get lost.

For those who follow the old (Julian) calendar: July 28 traditionally marks the Day of Remembrance of Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr and the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine.
