According to the new (New Julian) calendar, on July 22, one of the most famous women in the history of Christianity is honored - Mary Magdalene, a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Among the people, this holiday was often called "Maria the Berry Picker." It was believed that on this day, women should not perform heavy work in the garden or field; instead, they traditionally went to the forest to pick berries.
For those who follow the old (Julian) calendar: on July 22, the memory of the Hieromartyr Pancratius and Bishop Cyril is honored. In folk tradition, the day was called "Pancratius and Cyril."
