The US Federal Aviation Administration has announced a 30-day ban on all civilian flights to Haiti following the shooting of a Spirit Airlines plane. This is reported by AFP, UNN reports.
Details
In addition, the FAA has restricted the use of Haitian airspace at altitudes below 10,000 feet (approximately 3 km).
The incident occurred on Monday, when a Spirit Airlines plane flying from Miami to the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince was shot at. The aircraft was then diverted to the Dominican Republic. One of the crew members was lightly injured, but there were no injuries among the passengers.
During the inspection of the plane after landing, damage was found, probably caused by gunfire. Port-au-Prince, where the incident occurred, is currently controlled by armed gangs, which poses a significant risk to civil aviation and the city's residents.
