97% of Russian missiles, drones and guided bombs fired since the beginning of the year have hit Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reports.

97% of these Russian missiles, drones and guided bombs fired since the beginning of the year have hit civilian infrastructure. This was stated by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov during his speech at an extraordinary meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, UNN reports.

The total explosive power of combined air strikes on Ukraine since the beginning of the year exceeds nine kilotons. Only 3% of these Russian missiles, drones, and guided bombs hit military targets, while 97% hit civilian infrastructure.

The speech focused on Russia's recent massive air strikes and the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

Rustem Umerov also provided a detailed overview of Ukraine's urgent air defense needs.

The support of partners is important in this matter. This will save thousands of innocent lives. The more Russian missiles that are shot down in Ukrainian skies, the less of a threat they will pose to NATO member states that border Ukraine,

A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council was held today (28 March 2024). Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană chaired the Council, with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov joining via videoconference. On behalf of Ukraine, he called on Western allies to provide additional air defense capabilities in the wake of Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.  Allies reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ukraine's defense.
