Ukrenergo expects that it will be possible to pass the winter without power outages, but under certain conditions

Power engineers have managed to restore a third of the generating capacities that were destroyed by Russian shelling, so it is expected that in winter the lights will either not be turned off at all or there will be certain restrictions, provided that the air temperature does not drop below -5 degrees. This was stated by Yuriy Boyko, advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, during a briefing, UNN reports.

While in the spring we talked about damaging about 9 gigawatts of generating capacity, today more than a third of the damaged capacity has been restored. This is the key factor that allows us to receive electricity without interruption, and it is the factor that allows us to make reasonable forecasts about the winter. We expect that this winter will be either without restrictions or with minimal restrictions at temperatures down to -5 inclusive. And, accordingly, we expect electricity shortages in the system if there is a long period of time, i.e. 3+ days with a temperature of 10 degrees below zero

- Boyko said.

He noted that on critically cold days, despite the increase in electricity imports to 2,100 mW, restriction schedules will be applied.

"Depending on the temperature, I estimate one to two lines. Three stages will definitely be required at very low temperatures," added Boyko.

Experts warn of possible power supply restrictions in Ukraine due to Russian attacks and cold weather. The country's power system lost more than 9 GW of capacity after the August shelling.
