In April, Ukraine carried out 21 strikes on Russian oil facilities. Due to the attacks, oil refining volumes in Russia have fallen to their lowest level since 2009.

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil infrastructure have increased to their highest monthly level since December last year. This was reported by Bloomberg after conducting its own count of the attacks, UNN reports.

According to data collected by the publication based on public statements from both countries, at least 21 strikes were launched by Ukraine in April against Russian oil refineries and maritime facilities, including export terminals and pipeline infrastructure.

In April, there were at least nine strikes on Russian oil refining industry enterprises, which is the highest monthly level since the beginning of the year.

According to estimates by the analytical company OilX, this led to a reduction in the average processing of Russian oil refineries to 4.69 million barrels per day, the lowest figure since December 2009.

It is noted that the drop in crude oil refining rates increases pressure on Russia both in its domestic market, where seasonal demand is growing, and in global petroleum product markets.

This month, Ukraine returned to its strategy of repeated attacks on individual Russian oil refineries.

This approach maximizes the damage caused to targeted refineries, hindering rapid repairs.

The publication notes that Ukraine has also intensified attacks on the Russian oil pipeline network, hitting at least five pumping stations in April.
