The third set ended with a 6:2 victory for Kostyuk, who secured the win and becomes the first Ukrainian semifinalist in the history of Roland Garros.
In the semifinals on Thursday, June 4, Kostyuk will face the "neutral" Russian Mirra Andreeva.
After the match, Kostyuk stated that she wants to dedicate the victory to Ukraine, especially after the overnight shelling.
"Once again, we had a very difficult night in Ukraine. I want to dedicate this match to Ukrainians, the Ukrainian people, and their resilience. Glory to Ukraine," Kostyuk said.
She also noted that she would perform her famous backflip if she manages to win in the final.
