Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin and Japanese justice minister Ryuji Koizumi discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement between the governments on international legal assistance and possible extradition. This was announced by Kostin during a joint briefing with the minister of justice in Kyiv, the correspondent of UNN reports.
"Today we have started a dialogue on expanding the possibilities of our international legal cooperation. Today we discussed the possibility of concluding an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Japan on international legal assistance and possible extradition. This is just the beginning of this dialogue," Kostin said.
According to him, at this stage of cooperation between Ukraine and Japan - this is an important step towards a meeting for the rapid exchange of information.
"It provides, among other things, for the participation of other ministries and departments, but we understand that at this stage of cooperation between our states, this is an important step towards a meeting so that we can quickly exchange information, including together to prevent the commission of crimes that are transnational in nature, cross – border in nature, and there are a lot of such crimes committed now. In particular, we can talk about the illegal supply of technologies or dual-use items. Therefore, this dialogue has been launched," Kostin said.

The minister of Justice of Japan said that they received a request from Ukraine to reform the Civil Procedure Code.
"We have received a request from the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to reform the Civil Procedure Code, improve transparency in the application of laws, and strengthen institutional capacity. The Japanese Ministry of Justice hopes that we can provide maximum assistance based on what has already been done," Koizumi said.
He also said that on December 6 this year, a judicial conference will be held, to which Japan wants to invite high-level officials from Ukraine in order to have a more substantive conversation.
