The State Bureau of Investigation has notified two servicemen of the "Skelya" regiment of suspicion of cruel treatment of their comrades, reported the SBI on Tuesday, writes UNN.
SBI officers, with the assistance of the military unit command, notified two servicemen of the medical company of the "Skelya" regiment of suspicion, who, according to the investigation, beat and illegally detained two comrades in the Kirovohrad region
According to the bureau, "it was established that in May 2026, two servicemen were discharged from the hospital for violating the established regime and sent to the medical unit of the unit. After that, the suspects decided to 'punish' them on their own for violating discipline."
"They inflicted numerous blows on the victims, and then locked them in an outbuilding, where they continued the abuse, - the SBI stated. - One of the servicemen lost consciousness. He was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury, a nasal bone fracture, and other bodily injuries. The other victim was illegally detained for almost another day. Later, he was also taken to the hospital with a traumatic brain injury, numerous bruises, and hematomas."
Both suspects have been detained. They have been notified of suspicion of torture and violation of statutory rules of relations between servicemen, accompanied by beatings and abuse of several persons (Part 2 of Article 127, Part 3 of Article 406 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
The sanctions of the articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
The issue of choosing preventive measures for the suspects in the form of detention is being decided.
"The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Within the proceedings, SBI investigators are also checking individual reports of possible facts of improper treatment of servicemen in the distribution and training places of the regiment," the statement reads.
