The important meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping has now concluded. The talks lasted over 2 hours and 15 minutes, Chinese state television CCTV reported.
"Everything is great," Trump said in response to a journalist's question while visiting the Temple of Heaven in the Chinese capital.
"Beautiful place. Incredible. China is beautiful," Trump said.
Chinese leader Xi Jinping told Donald Trump that their countries should be "partners, not opponents," while the US President called Xi a "great leader" as they began the talks. They were expected to discuss a range of complex issues, including technology and trade.
At the meeting on Thursday, Xi Jinping told Trump that Taiwan is the "most important issue in China-US relations" and could create a "very dangerous situation" if mishandled, Chinese state media reported.
Washington maintains strong unofficial relations with democratically-governed Taiwan but deliberately avoids answering whether it would intervene militarily in the event of a Chinese attack.
