Ukrzaliznytsia's team is developing a model for changing passenger transportation tariffs, it is about SV and Intercity+, one of the changes involves a "moderate increase" in tariffs annually, said Oleksandr Pertsovsky, head of passenger transportation at UZ, in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, UNN reports.

Details

Ukrzaliznytsia is developing a model that includes several tariff changes, Pertsovsky said.

The first change provides for a moderate increase in basic tariffs annually in line with inflation.

UZ is reportedly asking the government to remove state regulation on the price of SV class tickets. "Despite their high price, they are sold out the fastest," Pertsovsky explained.

Flexible pricing is also offered for all Intercity+ classes. In this case, certain price ceilings can be set.

Another suggestion is to make ticket prices depend on the popularity of flights and the time of day.

Thus, it is planned to introduce a "more flexible, dynamic tariff model" to allow ticket prices to vary depending on hours and days and other parameters. At the same time, the most affordable fares will remain for those for whom cost is critical.

At the same time, Ukrainians will definitely be able to buy affordable tickets until the end of the war, Pertsovsky assured. "This is our commitment as a social company," he said.

Addendum

In the first half of the year, Ukrzaliznytsia reportedly carried 23% more passengers than last year, 13.3 million. In the last year before Russia's full-scale invasion, UZ carried about 25 million passengers. In June, UZ recorded record numbers: 100,000 passengers per day and 2.5 million for the month as a whole.
