According to Elon Musk, this is "a revolution, perhaps the biggest revolution since the first humans." This is how he commented on the mass layoffs in the United States after the arrival of the new administration.
Musk added that the American government "needed to carry out this revolution, because otherwise the ship called the United States would have sunk." The United States Department of Government Efficiency was created within the United States Digital Service on January 20, 2025.
This happened simultaneously with Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States: the official purpose of the department is to reduce inefficient and fraudulent federal budget expenditures, eliminate excessive regulation, and optimize the operation of government bodies.
