The control of the Russian occupation forces over Zaporizhzhia NPP, as well as the operation of the power plant by unqualified personnel, increase the risks to the safety of a large nuclear facility in Ukraine. This was stated during a meeting of the UN Security Council by Deputy US Ambassador to the Organization Robert Wood, Reuters reports UNN.

"We are concerned that Zaporizhzhia NPP is being operated by an inadequately trained and unlicensed staff. This is a threatening and unsustainable situation for the safe maintenance and operation of the nuclear power plant," the US representative emphasized.
He also called the situation related to the Russian occupation forces' ban on access to nuclear power plants for Ukrainian specialists who have not signed labor agreements with Rosatom and have not taken Russian citizenship "terrible".
"Russia's blatant disregard for the need to retain licensed and experienced personnel calls into question the commitment of the Russian Federation and Rosatom to the safe operation of nuclear power plants around the world," the US representative emphasized.
