At the next plenary session, people's deputies of Ukraine will consider amendments that will significantly restrict the NACP in verifying the legality of officials' assets. The NACP calls on people's deputies to preserve the "lifestyle monitoring" tool. This was reported by the SAP, writes UNN.

Details

Proposals for changes to Article 51-4 "Monitoring the lifestyle of declarants" of the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption" have been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. These amendments could destroy the monitoring tool implemented by the NACP. As a result, they will complicate the verification of suspicious assets, in particular, they will make it impossible to analyze assets acquired before public service, and will create corruption risks by allowing officials to declare non-existent assets and then legalize them.

Among the proposed changes that will be considered by people's deputies are:

  • limiting Lifestyle Monitoring (hereinafter - LFM) only to the period of being in the status of a declarant;
    • Conducting LFM only for the declarant and his family members;
      • limiting the term of LFM to three months.

        "Such changes are aimed at limiting the powers of the NACP and nullifying an important financial control tool, which will have a negative impact on its effectiveness," the SAP statement said.
