The first burials at the National Military Memorial Cemetery are planned to begin in May. This was announced by the Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Nataliya Kalmykova, during the "Question Time for the Government" in Parliament, reports UNN.
This is a project of truly national importance and national responsibility. And we, as a state, must finally, in the 12th year of the war, begin a dignified burial with the necessary honors for our defenders. Everything is currently happening in accordance with current legislation. We plan to start the first burials in May of this year
She noted that the ministry is in constant contact with the families of the deceased.

Earlier, it was reported that the National Military Memorial Cemetery (NVMC) should be open for burials of fallen defenders of Ukraine as early as 2025.
On March 18, the National Military Memorial Cemetery reported that two tenders had been announced for the construction of the second phase (6 launch complexes):
· for the implementation of the author's supervision during the construction works at the facility;
· for the implementation of technical supervision to control the quality and volume of construction in accordance with the project documentation and the DBN.
The National Military Memorial Cemetery reminded that during the construction of the second phase, a crematorium, a house of mourning, columbarium walls, burial sectors, a square with a stele and flagpole, monuments, etc. will be built.
