Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and his second assistant have been charged with high treason, public calls for the overthrow of the constitutional order and justification of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and his second assistant will be tried for high treason, public calls for the overthrow of the constitutional order and justification of Russia's armed aggression. UNN reports this with reference to the Office of the Prosecutor General. 

 Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office sent to court an indictment against the former Prime Minister of Ukraine and his assistant, who is in Russia

They are reportedly charged with public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, justification and recognition of the lawfulness of, and denial of, Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine (Article 28(2)(2)(109), Article 110(2), Article 28(2)(2), Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

The former prime minister is also charged with high treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It was established that the former Prime Minister of Ukraine, while in Russia, created a Telegram channel. There he posted propaganda publications with Kremlin narratives that form anti-Ukrainian sentiments in society.

The Telegram channel was administered by two assistants of the former official. One of them was the head of the organizational department in the Kyiv district state administration. Her case is already under consideration by the court, the OGP said. 

The other assistant, a former employee of the same DSA, is reportedly currently in Russia.

Together, the accomplices coordinated the former prime minister's information propaganda activities on Telegram and other social media and helped organize and disseminate anti-Ukrainian interviews and comments to Russian media.

By maintaining active ties with the former prime minister and his entourage, the women assisted in conducting information and subversive activities coordinated by representatives of Russian special services and aimed at discrediting the current government in the international arena

- was indicated in the OGP.

They reportedly did not stop helping Russia even after the full-scale invasion.

The OGP added that the forensic psychological and linguistic examinations of the published materials fully confirm the facts of the defendants' illegal activities.
