The European Commission plans to provide another €1.5 billion to Ukraine in April, if the conditions are met, in addition to the €4.5 billion already allocated in March after the launch of the Ukraine Facility , and after the EU Council approves the Ukraine Plan, another €1.9 billion may be allocated, which is expected in May. This was stated by the Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis at a press conference on April 12, UNN reports.

After the launch of the Ukraine Facility, the European Commission made the first disbursement of EUR 4.5 billion in exceptional transitional funding to Ukraine. The next disbursement of €1.5 billion is scheduled for this month, if policy conditions are met

- Dombrovskis said.

According to him, "this is a lifeline from the EU at an extremely difficult time to help Ukraine maintain key public services and keep the state functioning while the seedy wages its brutal war.

The European official also pointed out that the European Commission presented the Ukraine Plan, which was submitted a few weeks ago. "It focuses on structural reforms to overcome barriers to growth, investments in key sectors, and measures to facilitate Ukraine's convergence with EU rules and standards as part of its accession path. This will be the main instrument for the implementation of the Ukraine Facility," he said.

As for the next steps: The European Commission is assessing Ukraine's plan with a view to compiling quarterly indicators of reforms and investments that need to be implemented to unlock future disbursements. We will finalize this work in the near future and submit the assessment to the EU Council. Once approved, it will pave the way for Ukraine to receive the €1.9 billion pre-financing, most likely in May

- Dombrovskis pointed out.
