President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by his decree №835/2024 changed the boundaries of the Chornobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve. The withdrawn lands were transferred to the State Border Guard Service for the arrangement of engineering and technical structures. This is reported by UNN with reference to the OP and the SBGS.
As explained in the State Border Guard Service, land plots 45 meters wide along the state border with a total area of 695.2 hectares have been withdrawn from the territory of the Chornobyl Reserve. These lands have been transferred to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine for the arrangement of engineering and technical structures, border signs and communications.
The total area of the reserve after the changes will be 226,269.5 hectares.
Addition
In March of this year, it was reported that part of the territories of the Chornobyl Reserve along the border line will be transferred to the military units of the SBGS for the formation of defense lines.
