A suicide bombing of a train in Quetta, Pakistan, has killed 24 people. More than 70 people were injured; the Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility.

In southwestern Pakistan, at least 24 people were killed and more than 70 others injured when an explosives-laden vehicle detonated near a passenger train. This was reported by The Independent, according to UNN.

According to officials, a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle filled with explosives near the railway tracks in the city of Quetta as a passenger train was passing. As a result of the explosion, two carriages overturned and caught fire.

Several nearby buildings sustained heavy damage, and more than ten parked cars were also destroyed.

Doctors note that 20 of the injured are in critical condition.

The banned separatist group "Balochistan Liberation Army" claimed responsibility for the attack. The militants stated that the target of the attack was a train carrying Pakistani security personnel.

Quetta is the capital of Balochistan, a Pakistani province rich in oil and minerals.
