In June 2026, young vegetables, strawberries, and sweet cherries became cheaper in Ukraine. At the same time, apricots, peaches, blueberries, and raspberries became more expensive due to spring frosts.

In June 2026, the Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market began transitioning to a summer seasonal pricing model. More new harvest products appeared on the shelves, and prices for some vegetables, berries, and fruits started to decline. The most noticeable price drops were seen in early vegetables, strawberries, sweet cherries, and new potatoes. At the same time, the price decrease was not uniform: some items remain expensive due to adverse weather conditions, logistics, producer costs, and dependence on imports. In particular, this concerns apricots, peaches, blueberries, and raspberries, which are increasing in price despite the start of summer. UNN looked into what is happening with prices for popular vegetables and garden produce.

Vegetable prices: which products have become cheaper

In June, the biggest price drops were seen in new harvest vegetables. This primarily applies to new potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, beets, radishes, and some greens. Prices showed negative dynamics because more Ukrainian products from open ground and greenhouse farms entered the market, competing with imported vegetables, which are traditionally much more expensive due to the logistics costs built into the price.

How much does new potato cost in 2026

New potatoes, which are traditionally expensive at the start of the season, began to get cheaper in June. Root vegetables from Transcarpathia and the southern regions of Ukraine arrived on store shelves and market stalls. On average, a kilogram of new potatoes can be purchased at markets for prices ranging from 35 to 65 hryvnias. And in large chain supermarkets, this vegetable can be bought for an average of 37.50 hryvnias. Over the past month, prices for new potatoes there decreased by 15.24 hryvnias.

That is why the "borscht set" in 2026 is generally cheaper than last year.

At the same time, last year's potatoes remain relatively affordable, as the 2025 harvest was better than the previous season. You can buy them at markets for 13 to 16 hryvnias per kilogram. In large chain stores, they are somewhat more expensive: on average, 34 hryvnias per kilogram.

How much can you buy young cucumbers for in Ukraine

In the second decade of June, prices for cucumbers also decreased. After spring fluctuations, their cost went down. The reason is the variety of cucumber offerings from domestic farmers. That is why cucumbers can be purchased at the market for 25-40 hryvnias per kilogram.

In chain supermarkets, prices differ from market prices: a kilogram of young cucumbers there costs an average of 58.89 hryvnias. Moreover, the price tag also depends on the variety of cucumbers. Smooth ones are sold for 67.92 hryvnias per kilogram. Prickly ones are slightly cheaper - 62.50 hryvnias per kilogram. The most expensive are the "Estafeta" variety cucumbers: they are sold for 112.88 hryvnias per kilogram.

Overall, compared to May figures, average prices for cucumbers in stores and supermarkets decreased by 41.00 hryvnias.

Tomato prices in Ukraine in 2026: how much will you have to pay

Tomatoes are currently starting to get cheaper, although their price remains quite high compared to basic vegetables. Experts explain this phenomenon by the costs of greenhouse cultivation, energy, packaging, and transportation, which affect the final price for the consumer, as they are included in the cost of tomatoes.

Currently, at markets, red tomatoes cost from 70 to 100 hryvnias per kilogram.

In stores, you will have to pay more for the vegetable. We are talking about prices at the level of 124.10 hryvnias per kilogram. Pink tomatoes cost 131.16 hryvnias, and "plum" tomatoes - 139.44 hryvnias per kilogram.

Despite this, starting from the second decade of May, average prices for tomatoes decreased by as much as 103.15 hryvnias.

Prices for young vegetables in stores and markets: what to pay attention to

The following also became cheaper for Ukrainians:

  • young cabbage (from 15 to 18 hryvnias per kilogram at the market and 35.27 hryvnias per kilogram - in supermarkets);
    • beets (30-40 hryvnias per kilogram at the market and 35.33 hryvnias per kilogram in chains of popular stores in Ukraine);
      • radishes (from 20 to 40 hryvnias per kilogram);
        • green peas (50-70 hryvnias per kilogram);
          • some types of salad products.

            Thus, seasonal vegetables are gradually becoming more affordable, but the difference between markets, supermarkets, and the regions where they are located can be significant.

            Fruit prices: where to expect a decrease in cost

            In the fruit segment, at the end of June, berries and stone fruits became cheaper. The most noticeable price drops were for strawberries and sweet cherries.

            How much do strawberries cost in June 2026

            After high May prices, strawberries began to lose value due to increased supply from open ground. However, their cost still depends on the region, the quality of the berry, and weather conditions. Thus, in chains of popular markets in Ukraine, a kilogram of this berry can be purchased from 139 to 220 hryvnias.

            The consumer price index for strawberries in June 2026 was 70.09%. Compared to the previous month, average prices decreased by 29.91%.

            The cheapest prices for sweet cherries in June: what are they

            Sweet cherries in 2026 are also gradually getting cheaper. Unlike last year, the situation with the sweet cherry harvest is better this season, so there is more Ukrainian product on the market. This reduces dependence on imports and keeps prices in check. In the coming weeks, with stable weather, sweet cherries may become even cheaper.

            Currently, a kilogram of sweet cherries can be purchased at markets for 70-110 hryvnias.

            How apple prices have changed in 2026

            Apples remain relatively stable in price. The market is dominated by stocks from the 2025 harvest, and it is the good last year's harvest that helps curb a sharp price increase. At the same time, closer to the depletion of stocks, prices for quality fruit may go up.

            In supermarkets, a kilogram of Ukrainian apples is sold for an average of 50.17 hryvnias. Apples of the "Idared" variety are offered to the buyer for 65.60 hryvnias per kilogram.

            The consumer price index for apples in June 2026 was 106.36%. Compared to the previous month, average prices increased by 6.36%.

            Bananas, oranges, lemons, and other imported fruits do not have a pronounced seasonal price reduction in Ukraine. Their price depends more on the exchange rate, logistics, fuel costs, and purchase prices in supplier countries. Therefore, in June, they mostly remain stable or fluctuate slightly.

            Prices for vegetables and fruits: what has become more expensive despite the season

            Despite the seasonal increase in supply, some products are too expensive for buyers in June.

            First of all, these are apricots, peaches, nectarines, raspberries, blueberries, and some imported fruits. The main reason is spring frosts, which damaged part of the stone fruit harvest.

            Apricots in 2026 have become one of the most problematic fruits of the season. Due to unfavorable weather in the spring, the harvest in Ukraine decreased, so prices remain high. A kilogram of apricots is currently offered for 100-160 hryvnias per kilogram.

            A similar situation exists with peaches and nectarines: their supply is limited, and part of the demand is covered by imports. Currently, peaches are offered to Ukrainians from 65 to 110 hryvnias per kilogram.

            Blueberries and raspberries are also expensive. This is due to a later start of the season, cultivation and harvesting costs, as well as high demand for quality berries. At the beginning of the season, such products are traditionally expensive, and only after mass harvesting can the price decrease.

            Therefore, currently, prices for a kilogram of raspberries reach 600-1000 hryvnias. Blueberries are slightly cheaper: a kilogram is sold for prices ranging from 500 to 700 hryvnias.

            Among vegetables, despite the general price reduction, some items may become more expensive, in particular green onions, some greens, sweet peppers, or premium quality products.

            This does not contradict the seasonal trend: the vegetable market is very sensitive to supply volumes, weather, product quality, and seller costs.

            Seasonal prices for vegetables and fruits: what to expect in the coming weeks

            In the coming weeks, the main trend in the fruit and vegetable market will remain stable: there will be more Ukrainian-produced products, and prices for some vegetables, berries, and fruits may decrease.

            Cucumbers, tomatoes, new potatoes, cabbage, beets, strawberries, and sweet cherries have the greatest potential for price reduction.

            At the same time, a sharp drop in prices for all seasonal products should not be expected. Prices will remain uneven across all regions of the country due to the war, logistics costs, rising fuel prices, labor shortages in the agricultural sector, and weather risks.

            As Denys Marchuk, Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, told UNN in an exclusive comment, seasonal prices for vegetables and fruits in Ukraine will remain dependent on the weather, the volume of the domestic harvest, and imports.

            In the vegetable market, the key factor will be the rate of arrival of the new harvest, while in the fruit segment, the biggest risks this season concern stone fruit crops - apricots, sweet cherries, sour cherries, and peaches, which suffered from spring frosts after the early flowering of the trees.

            "The situation with stone fruit crops became complicated back in winter, when severe frosts damaged the trees. And the March warmth accelerated their flowering, after which frosts in various regions of Ukraine hit primarily the early stone fruits,"

            - the expert said.

            Therefore, the most difficulties are currently with apricots. The assortment of sweet cherries has been partially affected by the losses.

            Marchuk emphasizes: the supply of Ukrainian stone fruits on the market may be limited, and part of the demand will be covered by imports. This will also affect prices, the formation of which will take into account logistics costs by sellers. In addition, prices may actively react even to adverse weather conditions in the countries from which apricots, peaches, and sweet cherries will be imported.

            "Stone fruits this season will definitely cost more than last year, because all production costs have increased - from fuel to preparations for feeding the trees. And if, due to weather losses, the supply on the market is limited, this will additionally push prices up,"

            - summed up Denys Marchuk.

            In addition, in supermarkets, prices usually decrease more slowly than in wholesale markets. Therefore, for consumers, the most advantageous tactic in June is to buy those products that are already approaching the peak of their seasonality:

            • cucumbers;
              • early cabbage;
                • radishes;
                  • new potatoes;
                    • strawberries;
                      • sweet cherries.

                        But you should be more careful with expensive berries, apricots, peaches, and nectarines: their price may decrease gradually, but due to crop losses caused by adverse weather conditions, they may not get cheaper this season.

                        Overall, June is traditionally a month of partial price relief for buyers. New harvest vegetables and some berries are getting cheaper, but the market remains unstable. Therefore, it is worth finally assessing the summer price dynamics at the end of June - beginning of July, when the supply from domestic producers reaches its maximum.

                        Reminder

                        Earlier we wrote that in May 2026, annual inflation in Ukraine slowed to 8.2%. The biggest price increases were for fruits by 11.1%, while egg prices fell by 15.3%
