German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has warned China against supporting Russia, tagesschau reports, UNN writes.
Details
Scholz will reportedly point out that Russia is waging a war of aggression against Ukraine.
"We will say that no one is allowed to help," Scholz said in Shanghai, referring to the increase in Chinese exports to Russia after the attack on Ukraine.
"Hence the call to everyone not to circumvent sanctions (...), hence the requirement not to deliver weapons," he said.
Of course, there are dual-use products that can be used for civilian purposes, but they can also "actually" be used for military purposes, he pointed out.
Russia's war of aggression is not only a European issue, the Chancellor emphasized.
"If it becomes widespread, it will become a threat to peace and security on the entire planet, because it will encourage many to make historical amendments," he said.
AddendumAddendum
Western countries, as noted, accuse China of supplying not weapons, but products that Russia uses in its war against Ukraine.
Scholz will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang in Beijing on Tuesday.
