US intelligence has released evidence of the involvement of Russian special services in the 2004 poisoning of Ukrainian presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko, which, according to his supporters, was the result of dioxin in food, UNN reports citing Bloomberg.

The document provides a list of similar assassinations, which, according to intelligence, were carried out by Russian special services on Putin's personal order. the Kremlin has been targeting political and opposition leaders in key post-Soviet countries whom it considers a threat.

As noted in the report, a striking example is the 2004 poisoning of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, which was nearly fatal.

"His supporters concluded that Russian intelligence had put the chemical dioxin in his food when he was a presidential candidate who favored Ukraine's integration with the West," the document says.
