The Russian government  has extended the temporary ban on gasoline exports, which will be in effect until the end of 2024. This is reported by the Russian media, UNN reports.

As noted, the decision was made to "maintain a stable situation during the period of seasonal demand and scheduled repairs at the refinery."

The restriction will not apply:

  • for supplies under international intergovernmental agreements, in particular with the EAEU countries;
  • fuel exported by citizens for personal use;
  •  fuel that is exported to provide international humanitarian aid.

Recall

After a series of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries in early 2024, gasoline production in Russia collapsed.

The first restriction on the export of petroleum products was introduced in the fall of 2023, when the government and oil producers failed to resolve the fuel crisis.

The second ban on gasoline exports was introduced on March 1, 2024, when gasoline prices were skyrocketing.
