Police tell what awaits curfew violators on New Year's Eve

Law enforcement officers will detain and bring to the police stations to clarify the circumstances of people who will be on the streets during the curfew on New Year's Eve. This was stated by the Head of the Department of Preventive Activities of the National Police Maksym Akhrameyev during a telethon, UNN reports .

According to Akhrameyev, in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution, the curfew is set by the military administration in the respective region.

“The National Police has no information yet on changes to the curfew time period. Accordingly, the National Police, all units will respond to people who are on the streets during the curfew. We will treat people with understanding, for various reasons, i.e. if it was an immediate need or they needed to go to hospitals, or for other reasons, we will treat them with understanding. We will deliver everyone else and find out the circumstances,” Akhrameyev said.

He emphasized that, unfortunately, there is currently no liability for curfew violations in Ukraine.

According to him, since December 24, the maximum number of personnel has been deployed

police in crowded places and on Ukrainian highways “to ensure road safety”.

The Cabinet of Ministers has submitted a draft law to the Verkhovna Rada that would increase liability for violating the curfew. In particular, it is proposed to establish fines ranging from UAH 850 to UAH 3,400.
