Starting from September 1, 2024, all Ukrainian children who are currently living in Poland due to the war will be required to attend local schools. The relevant bill is being prepared by the Ministry of Education of Poland and is already at the final stage. This was announced today by Deputy Minister of Education of Poland Joanna Mucha, UNN reports with reference to Radio Liberty.

According to her, after intergovernmental consultations with Ukrainian colleagues held in Warsaw on March 28, it became known that 50-60 thousand Ukrainian children in Poland are not covered by the Polish education system. This is a significantly lower figure than previously reported by non-governmental organizations.
"The Ukrainian side is very interested in making Ukrainian children attend Polish schools. For their part, they offer cooperation and we will take advantage of this offer. Most of this program is already ready, we are waiting for the law to be approved and then we will officially inform about the details," said Joanna Mucha.

It is known that special Ukrainian language lessons will be introduced in Polish schools for Ukrainian children. For this purpose, teachers from Ukraine will be hired, and a simplified procedure for nostrification of diplomas will be offered to them.
It is also known that Ukrainian children will be taught about European integration. The Ministry of Education believes that they will need this knowledge in light of Ukraine's upcoming accession to the European Union.
The publication notes that as of June 2023, 975 thousand Ukrainian refugees were officially registered in Poland.
