Shortcomings were identified that were caused by abnormal operation of gunpowder, which was purchased abroad. This was stated by the minister for strategic industries German Smetanin during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada, commenting on the situation with the supply of low-quality mines to the armed forces of Ukraine, reports UNN.
Smetanin reminded that this year Ukraine will produce 2.5 million rounds of ammunition.
"According to the situation that has developed directly with 120, 82-mm mines безпосередньо to the information provided by the General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine, according to reports received from military units of the Defense Forces, the number of non-standard triggers of 120 – mm mines is 417 non - standard triggers, out of millions-only 417 non-standard triggers," Smetanin said.
According to him, a commission consisting of representatives of the Ministry of strategic industries of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense, the manufacturing plant, the Armed Forces and the security service of Ukraine carried out an inspection at the manufacturing plant.
"An act has been drawn up regarding the non-compliance of the delivered products with the Ministry of Defense. Shortcomings were identified that were caused by abnormal operation of gunpowder, which was purchased abroad. Reference: for the manufacture of propellant charges, spherical powder grades were used, which have been used since 1985 by NATO member countries for the production of 81.120 mm mines. However, during operation, the gunpowder changed its properties and began to work abnormally. All necessary measures have been taken, the Ministry of defense according to the acts.", - says Smetanin.

The Ministry of defense of Ukraine reported that the causes of abnormal operation of 120-mm mines are being investigated by an interdepartmental Commission. Now the use of ammunition has been suspended, and the defective batch of Mines has been seized. According to preliminary results of the investigation, the mines do not work due to possible causes of defects, in particular poor-quality powder charges or violation of storage conditions. The state Bureau of Investigation has opened criminal proceedings on this fact.
Subsequently, the minister for strategic industries German Smetanin said that from the batch of 54 thousand 120-mm mines, which were suspected of abnormal operation, about 24 thousand are subject to return. This is less than 1% of the productsproduced this year. Now mine producers are strengthening quality control at all stages of production.
