Only one person has so far received approval under Donald Trump's "Gold Card" visa program, which grants foreigners the right to reside in the United States for a contribution of $1 million, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced on Thursday. Bloomberg reports this, writes UNN.

Lutnick did not disclose the identity of the applicant who has already been approved. During testimony before a U.S. House of Representatives committee, he noted that applications from "hundreds" of other foreigners are currently under review.
According to him, candidates undergo "extraordinary vetting" and must also pay $15,000 for application processing.
The Trump administration began accepting applications for this visa in December.
The President promotes the Gold Card program as an important tool for attracting talent to the United States. Visa recipients pay $1 million for the right to reside in the country.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security did not provide immediate comment on journalists' requests.
