The Turkish Coast Guard Command stated on Saturday, June 6, that a Turkish-flagged fishing vessel was attacked west of Russian-occupied Crimea, off the coast of Sevastopol in the Black Sea. One person was killed and five others were injured as a result of the attack. This was reported in a statement by the command on the X social network, according to UNN.

"On June 5, 2026, information was received regarding an attack in the Black Sea (west of Crimea, off the coast of Sevastopol) on the Turkish-flagged fishing vessel 'DURU 67'. As a result of the attack, the fishing vessel 'DURU 67', which sustained damage, sank. The fishing vessel 'BURAK KAYA', which was nearby, immediately evacuated 5 wounded fishermen from the sunken vessel and began moving toward İnebolu; during transport, unfortunately, 1 fisherman, who was in critical condition, passed away," the statement reads.
It is noted that at 12:35, one Coast Guard Command ship departed from the port of İnebolu with a medical team consisting of 4 doctors, 15 nurses, and auxiliary medical staff, totaling 19 people.
"Our Coast Guard unit (TCSG-96), performing this task, reached the fishing vessel 'BURAK KAYA' at 19:20, which was located 115 nautical miles north of the port of İnebolu within the Turkish Search and Rescue Region. The body of the deceased fisherman and the wounded fishermen were transferred to the Coast Guard vessel, where they received medical assistance, after which the vessel returned to the port of İnebolu," the command added.

In May, Russian forces launched a drone strike on the civilian dry cargo ship ANT, which was traveling from one of the ports in the Odesa region to Turkey. Two crew members were injured as a result of the attack.
