A federal court in Brooklyn has sentenced one of the most notorious leaders of the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel, Ismael Zambada, known as "El Mayo," to life imprisonment. This was reported by Reuters and AFP, writes UNN.

During the trial, Zambada admitted to organizing the supply of millions of kilograms of cocaine to the United States. He is considered one of the most influential leaders of Mexican drug cartels ever convicted by U.S. courts.
Zambada was arrested in 2024 along with the son of another leader of the Sinaloa cartel, Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.
