Ombudsman appeals to the UN over the shooting of prisoners of war near Vuhledar

The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets sent letters to the UN and the ICRC over the shooting of five captured Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers near Vuhledar. Lubinets reported this on his Telegram channel, UNN reports.

According to Lubinets, according to the Prosecutor General's Office, on October 2, 2024, during an assault on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Vuhledar, the occupiers took five unarmed Ukrainian soldiers prisoner. One of them was probably shot in a forest belt, while the other four were taken to the road at gunpoint and also shot.

“The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and a serious international crime. Once again, I, as the Ombudsman of Ukraine, sent letters to the UN and the ICRC regarding the barbaric crime of the occupiers,” Lubinets said.
