Ukrainian athlete Oleh Doroshchuk has reached the final of the 2024 Olympics in the high jump. He did not clear the height of 2.27 meters, but made it to the top 12 participants in the final. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Athletics Federation of Ukraine.
Oleh Doroshchuk has qualified for the high jump finals of the Olympic Games with a score of 2.24 and will compete there on August 10
AddendumAddendum
In this sport, three athletes from Ukraine were selected for the Games in Paris: Oleh Doroshchuk, Andriy Protsenko and Vladyslav Lavsky
However, Doroshchuk became the only Ukrainian to qualify for the high jump at the 2024 Olympics, while Lavsky and Protsenko failed to qualify.
The format of the qualification meant that all the jumpers who cleared 2.29 meters would make it to the finals. Or they would be in the top 12 according to the qualification results.
Oleh Doroshchuk failed to clear 2.24 meters on the first attempt, but managed to do it on the second - the athlete flew over the height and continued to compete in the qualification.
The Ukrainian nevertheless made it to the final due to the fact that several jumpers who had shown worse results at previous heights also failed to clear it.
