Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov said that an international tribunal over Russia is unlikely without its strategic defeat. He emphasized that the process of establishing the tribunal could take a long time, just like the Nuremberg trials after World War II.

The establishment of a tribunal over Russia in Ukraine is possible only after Russia's military defeat, and without a strategic defeat of Russia, an international tribunal is also unlikely.

This was stated by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov, UNN reports with reference to Forbes.

A tribunal on the territory of Ukraine over Russia can be realistic only in the event of a direct military defeat of Russia. As for an international tribunal, it is a little easier, but not much. Unfortunately, no one will be able to condemn Russia, no matter how much they shout, until it strategically loses. This does not mean a direct loss on the battlefield, but a strategic one. If this does not happen, there will be no convictions either. The process can go on forever

- Budanov said.

He emphasized that the Nuremberg trials took place after the war, and not even in the year of its end.

Recall

European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders said that an international special tribunal to prosecute war crimes in Ukraine could be established by the end of 2024, with options for its creation based on a multilateral or bilateral agreement being considered.
