Starting next year, New York City will introduce a $9 car toll to enter central Manhattan to reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.
According to UNN, the relevant plan of the state of New York was approved at the federal level, as reported by the US Department of Transportation.

It is noted that initially the city intended to charge $15, but in the end it was announced that the fee would be $9.
“Today is the moment we've been waiting for,” Yanno Lieber, head of the New York City Department of Transportation, told reporters on Friday, ”We have cleared the last bureaucratic hurdle to introducing congestion pricing.
It is noted that this decision was made amid fears that President-elect Donald Trump would block New York's decision, as he opposes environmental measures, including the establishment of such fees.
The plan may still be blocked in court, which will hear a complaint from its opponents in December.
