Details

Great Britain has carried out a pioneering laser weapon test. According to the Ministry of Defense, British scientists and engineers successfully deployed a high-powered laser weapon from the Wolfhound vehicle for the first time during tests at the Dstl range at Porton Down.

Neutralized enemy drones at a range of more than 1 km. The low-cost, high-energy laser weapon mounted on the British Army's Wolfhound armored vehicle is fully portable and easy to operate. The system can track multiple targets and engage them at the speed of light. This represents a major step forward in the UK Ministry of Defense's Land-based Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) weapon demonstration program

In 2022, the Department of Defense Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), was conducting the UK's first test of a high-power, long-range laser directed energy weapon (LDEW) at its Porton Down ranges.

UNN reported that the British Army has pioneered the use of a 3D printer in the field to rapidly manufacture spare parts for vehicles during NATO's Steadfast Defender exercise, the largest NATO deployment in Europe in a generation.
