New Head of Ukrhydroenergo: Supervisory Board Selects Bohdan Sukhetskyi

Bohdan Sukhetskyi has been elected CEO of Ukrhydroenergo following a competitive selection process. He will be responsible for restoring damaged facilities and modernizing power plants.

The Supervisory Board of PrJSC "Ukrhydroenergo" has elected Bohdan Sukhetskyi as the company's CEO following an open competitive selection process, UNN reports, citing Ukrhydroenergo.

The new CEO is tasked with ensuring the stable operational activity of the company, restoring damaged capacities, modernizing stations in accordance with modern energy security and resilience standards, and increasing the level of physical and engineering protection of the facilities.

"It was important for us to choose a leader capable of working under wartime conditions while simultaneously implementing the modernization program. We expect the new CEO to increase operational efficiency and implement technological solutions for the restoration of facilities damaged as a result of more than 260 attacks by Russia," noted Valentyn Gvozdiі, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo.

To conduct the competition, the Supervisory Board engaged the international consulting firm Korn Ferry, which specializes in the recruitment and assessment of top management. The selection was carried out with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The competition took place in several consecutive stages. In the first stage, Korn Ferry formed a long list of applicants. Subsequently, initial interviews and compliance checks against the Supervisory Board's requirements were conducted, resulting in a shortlist of 5 candidates. In the next stage, an in-depth assessment of professional competencies, candidate background checks, and structured interviews were conducted, during which candidates presented their own vision for Ukrhydroenergo's development strategy.

The selection was conducted by the Appointments and Remuneration Committee, which consists of 4 independent members of the Supervisory Board. Based on the assessment results, the Committee recommended two finalists for the final vote by the Supervisory Board.

The selection procedure was conducted in accordance with best corporate governance practices, including the OECD Principles.

Background

Bohdan Sukhetskyi has been working at Ukrhydroenergo since 2010. He previously held the position of Deputy CEO for Commercial Activities. From May 2024 to May 2025 – Acting CEO of Ukrhydroenergo.

He has over 16 years of experience in the energy sector. His main specialization in the company in previous years was commercial activity.

Education. He graduated from the SHEI "Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman" under the "Business Administration in the Energy Sector" educational program, obtaining a Master's qualification in the field of "Management and Administration," specializing in "Management." He received higher education at the Kyiv National Economic University specializing in "Marketing," obtaining a Master's qualification in marketing management. He graduated from the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University in the field of "Construction" and obtained a Bachelor's qualification in construction.
