The Ministry of Reintegration is not abandoning the Shelter program, but payments after August will be frozen until funds are found. This was announced by Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Roman Usenko during the event "Analysis of the Implementation of the State Policy Strategy on Internal Displacement for the period up to 2025", UNN reports.
Details
When asked whether payments under the Shelter program would continue after August 2024, Usenko replied: "Only for August we will make payments - this is due to objective problems. Under the Shelter program, the main source is the funds we receive from international partners. Unfortunately, today we are not able to support the project, so we proposed to amend the resolution that regulates the procedure for issuing this compensation and provided a mechanism for temporary suspension".
According to him, the program is not being abandoned because it has really shown its effectiveness.
It is a targeted program that really helps directly those people who have provided their housing for internally displaced persons. Therefore, we will have an option to temporarily freeze payments. Only when we find the funds will it be possible to resume such compensations. So far, August is the last month for which we have funds for compensation

The Shelter program is a joint initiative of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine aimed at helping people who have sheltered internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The program provides compensation for private households that have sheltered internally displaced persons from the territories where hostilities are taking place or temporarily occupied settlements.
Funding for the Shelter project, which was provided by UNHCR, ends on August 31, 2024, meaning that the last reporting month for the relevant compensation is August 2024.
