Milan fights ice cream vendors to end 'wild nightlife'

The city authorities of Milan, Italy, are proposing to ban the sale of takeaway food after midnight to combat "wild nightlife" in some parts of the city. In particular, the ban will apply to ice cream. This was reported by the Guardian, according to UNN.

The ban will ensure a balance between "friendship and entertainment, peace and health of residents, as well as free economic activity of traders and entrepreneurs who provide jobs

explained Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Marco Granelli.

According to the official, the ban on selling takeout food after midnight will be in effect from May 17 to November 4 every day of the week in the busiest areas of the city.

Marco Granelli clarified that takeaway sales will be banned in the Brera and Ticinese to Darsena districts, Arco della Pace and Lazzaretto, Corso Como and Garibaldi. Street vendors, on the other hand, will have to stop their activities from 20.00 every day.

In addition, bars and restaurants will also be required to close their outdoor areas from 00.30 on weekdays and from 1.30 am on weekends.
