The day after the publication of a report by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Kyiv said the report is a clear confirmation of Russia's systematic use of dangerous chemicals against Ukraine and called on partners to take decisive action. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as indicated, has carefully studied the OPCW report on the use of banned chemicals by Russia. "The report notes that the evidence provided by Ukraine, in particular the RG-VO grenade and relevant soil samples, was collected and provided to the OPCW representatives in compliance with the chain-of-custody and relevant procedures," the statement said.
The evidence provided by Ukraine, as noted, was thoroughly analyzed by two independent OPCW certified laboratories.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between February 2023 and October 2024, more than 4,600 cases of the use of ammunition containing hazardous chemicals, including chlorobenzalmononitrile (CS), chloroacetophenone (CN), as well as chloropicrin and mercaptans (malodorants), were documented by the Russian Federation.
It is noteworthy that the RG-VO grenades are manufactured at Russian enterprises, in particular at the Applied Chemistry Research Center and the Research Institute of Applied Chemistry.
Such actions of the Russian Federation constitute a gross violation of Article 1, paragraph 5, of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Russian Federation "has repeatedly used chemical weapons on the territory of sovereign states, and therefore has no moral right to be a member of the governing bodies of relevant international organizations, including the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
"Russia's use of banned chemicals on the battlefield once again demonstrates Russia's chronic disregard for international law. the Russian regime poses a threat to the entire international community, and therefore, all efforts must be united to achieve a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace," the statement reads.
