The football club "Metalist 1925" has changed its name to FC "Kharkiv" and updated its club crest. This was reported by the club's press service, according to UNN.
Details
"Metalist 1925 is Kharkiv. Kharkiv is you," the video states.
The club also changed its crest. Now, the letter "X" is featured on the emblem. Additionally, the club colors have changed—instead of blue and yellow, they are now red and yellow.
Addendum
FC "Metalist" was established in 2016. The team's initial squad was formed based on players from the youth academy of Kharkiv's "Metalist." The first coaching staff of the "yellow-blues" included the last coach of "Metalist," Oleksandr Pryzetko, and former "Metalist" players Oleksandr Horyainov and Serhiy Ralyuchenko; former "Metalist" forward Volodymyr Linke became the general director. The club's owner is 37-year-old Ukrainian businessman Volodymyr Nosov, founder of the WhiteBit crypto exchange.
In 2021, the team reached the UPL for the first time in its history, after which it spent only one season outside the elite division—the 2024/25 season. At the end of the current season, "Metalist 1925" took 5th place in the UPL standings, failing to qualify for European competitions for the first time in its history.
It should be noted that from 2005 to 2010, a club with the same name—FC "Kharkiv"—already existed in Ukraine. The club was formed by transforming the football club "Arsenal" (Kharkiv) after its promotion to the top flight of the Ukrainian championship in 2005. The rights to the active players and coaches were transferred to the new president, while a team under the old brand appeared in the second league of the Ukrainian championship.
